Alex joined CSA in 2015 from a strong background in underwater noise research and consultancy for various industry sectors including renewable energy, oil and gas, and marine construction and shipping. He was previously a senior research assistant with the ISVR in Southampton, and a Senior Consultant in commercial underwater acoustics.
His interesting work stretched to the Caspian Sea, Singapore, Northern Ireland, Orkney ….and Grimsby. He has measured underwater noise from impact piling, ships, explosives, trains and tidal turbines; investigated underwater noise induced by propeller cavitation; undertaken prediction of underwater radiated noise from shipping; and monitored noise from impact piling operations for offshore wind farms to determine mitigation strategies.
Alex has worked extensively on environmental impacts on large scale onshore and offshore projects affecting marine life. Now he has moved to onshore work and undertakes construction pre- completion testing, noise and environmental impact assessments and is part of the Clarke Saunders team providing research for noise exposure assessments.
